Jenkin meets the new Essex Police Chief Constable
Thursday, 05 November 2009 09:24

Bernard Jenkin, MP for North Essex, and fellow Essex MPs met the new Chief Constable of Essex Police, Jim Barker-McCardle, in the House of Commons today.

The Chief Constable took up his post in September and continued his predecessor’s tradition of keeping local MPs informed of Essex Police’s work, and giving them an opportunity to raise any problems or questions.

Mr Jenkin said:

“I was delighted that the Chief Constable has pledged that every reported crime will be investigated.  So often people are scared to report crimes they experience or witness because they think nothing will come of it.  I would encourage people to feel heartened by the Chief Constable’s pledge, and to report crimes to their local police station.

“I am please the Chief Constable has taken to time to meet MPs and am confident he will continue to uphold the high policing standards established by his predecessor Roger Baker.”
